Both English and Farsi are spoken and taught. Academic focus is on English. The goal is that children will be able to connect with their family at home and gatherings and will be ready for and comfortable in an English-only Elementary school.
We want the children to learn both languages, but first and foremost we want them to feel comfortable and understood. We ask some staff to speak to the children in English, and repeat in Farsi as needed, and instruct others to speak to the children in Farsi, and repeat in English as needed. We also employ other tools such as playing Simon Says, teaching songs, and reading and interpreting books from one language to another.
